WHAT’S IN A NAME? • In 70 years, we have seen a pantheon of eponymy.

Denton Douglas Founder of Monarch Yachts • Born in St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, Denton Douglas launched Monarch Yachts on his birthday in 2013. Today, the company offers five models, ranging from a classic trawler to a sleek coupe to a full-scale superyacht. Each vessel is customizable down to the stitching, and Douglas is a part of the entire process. For him, the magic lies in the details: selecting finishes, refining layouts, and tailoring every element to reflect an owner’s vision. He operates as a one-man assembly line from the first appointment to final delivery, where he serves as the client’s sole point of contact. And business is booming. We sat down with Douglas to find out more about his love of building boats.

TRAILERING • Trailering boats is the only way to get to the water for boaters who don’t live on the water or keep their craft at a marina. How well do you know trailering safety and good towing practices? It’s time to tow to the water, so here goes.

PORTABLE DECK SEATS • It’s an age-old boating paradox: When a boat has the weight capacity for a crew of 10, but actual seating is for only four. Fortunately, there are ways to add extra seats, with removable chairs that can provide comfort to those who prefer to remain seated. Here are three tried-and-true options for lounging on deck.

CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV TRAIL BOSS • An aggressive stance combined with impressive specs.

INSTALL AN OVERHEAD ELECTRONICS BOX • Create extra space for accessories underneath your T-top.

REPACK WHEEL BEARINGS • How to repack wheel bearings with grease.

BUNK BOAT TRAILERS • For the most part, boat trailers are analogous to offensive linemen in football, indispensable to the game, but most people notice them only when they mess up. With trailers, most boaters likely don’t think anything of them until they find themselves waylaid on the side of the highway instead of backing down a boat ramp. To find out what makes a good boat trailer, we spoke with Stephanie Van Slyke of Venture Trailers, based out of Sparrows Point, Maryland. We went through one of Venture’s top-of-the-line Commander trailers to highlight what to look for in a boat trailer.

CONVERT CUSHIONS TO MAGNETIC SNAPS • The first time I saw boat cushions secured by magnets was five years ago. Someone picked up a cushion and tossed it toward the bow lounge. Like magic, it oriented itself properly and locked into place with a satisfying click-click-clickety-click.

MARINE NETWORK MAGIC • Demystifying multiple marine networks aboard your boat.

LONG-TERM TEST: OPTIMA ORANGETOP LITHIUM DUAL-PURPOSE BATTERIES • Does lighter weight, more power, plus full-on connectivity warrant scrapping your AGM-starting batteries?

ULTIMATE BUNK BOARDS • A slicker way to launch and load your boat.

REGAL 34 SAV • A center-console that does just about everything on the water.

NAVAN T30 • No mere bandwagon boat, Navan delivers a well-found center-console for all reasons.

WELLCRAFT 28 T-TOP • Wellcraft’s 28 T-Top combines Nordic styling and capabilities with American preferences.
