FEAST FOR THE EYES

THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE! • Panasonic has read the room and launched an all-new - rather than merely updated enthusiast-level fixed lens compact camera so it has the latest tech and features seen in its mirrorless cameras. Classic styling adds to the appeal as does the Micro Four Thirds sensor size.

VITAL STATISTICS

ZONER PHOTO STUDIO SOFTWARE SUMMER 2026 UPDATE • Of course, this is a winter update in our part of the world. Zoner now regularly refreshes its Photo Studio image editing software, and the latest additions include more efficient ways of processing multi-frame captures, faster searching with large photo collections and simpler retouching via a smart healing tool.

WORLD FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2026 • Australian photographers won a record four categories in this year's running of the world's biggest photo competition dedicated to the many and varied aspects of food and achieved a further eight finalist images (including four category second or third places). Overall, the winning images once again highlighted the sheer diversity of the subject and the ability of photography to both celebrate and challenge.

PEDIGREE BREED • Meet the R6 Mark III's more video-orientated cousin. While the two models are very similar on the inside, the R6 V's external design is more tailored to applications such as solo video productions or creating high-quality video content for social media usage. However, it's still also a hugely capable stills camera, but would you choose it over the R6 III?

VITAL STATISTICS

SHOW TIME! • It says “Z Cinema” on the back which gives you a good idea of the ZR’s orientation, but it also has most of the still shooting goodies from the Z6III so it’s an über-hybrid mirror camera that could set you off on a new career.

NIKON ZR $3499 body only, recommended retail price

AGING GRACEFULLY • As the legendary AE-1 celebrates 50 years - it was launched in early 1976 - we revisit the later (and even better) AE-1 Program model. Selling around 7.5 million units combined, both models helped establish Canon’s reputation and put it at the top of the 35mm SLR market.
