Marquee de grande • The National Hot Rod, Custom and American Car Show hit Lincolnshire Showground for the fourth consecutive year at the end of June. As always, it was staged in conjunction with the Modified Nationals, meaning pretty much every square inch of the 270-acre site was put to good use.

Hall of Fame at 20 • While Santa Pod celebrates its 60th anniversary, this year also featured a milestone for the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame. This was formed 20 years ago, when the much prized Bootsie crystal tablets were presented to new inductees for the first time. The possibility of establishing a hall of fame was first discussed in the winter of 2005/6, with the aim of honouring those who had made their mark in the sport – which by that time already had a history spanning more than four decades. It would be the well known figure of long time chief starter Stuart Bradbury who would be the driving force, as the founding Chairman, in establishing and growing the fledgling group.
PRESENTS OF MIND • If you're going to buy yourself a 60th birthday present, make it a good one. If it turns out to need a whole load of work... well, that's just the gift that keeps on giving
