WORKING WITH PEDAGOGICAL DOCUMENTATION • THINKING ABOUT THIS IDEA TOGETHER
UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT WITH AMANDA PALMER • A perfect fit – Amanda brings an arts and education background to her Early Learning Coordinator role with the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). Her deep understanding of the arts and ability to engage and share her knowledge ensure a connection with visiting educational practitioners and MCA’s youngest visitors. Drawing on her 15 years of experience working in museum and gallery education, Amanda passionately advocates for all young children, their teachers and families to be empowered as cultural citizens through active welcoming and wholehearted participation within all museums and galleries, and beyond. In recent times Amanda has co-led with Dr Clare Britt, the Art & Wonder: Young Children and Contemporary Art Project, a longitudinal study, which repositions preschool children (under 5s) as ‘savvy cultural citizens’ who can experience art with sensitivity, curiosity and joy. Spending time at the MCA with Amanda and her art educator team is pure joy…it is enlightening and enriching, as she and the team effortlessly open the door to the wonderment of the world of art. Welcome Amanda to Under the Spotlight.
